Kylie Minogue’s new album, Tension II, owes a lot of its pulsating spirit to the dance club culture of the 1990s. So, it’s no surprise that the “Padam Padam” hitmaker has such fondness for that decade and the carefree good times she associates with the era. In a new interview with The Times, the Grammy-winning Australian singer wistfully looks back at that time in her life and how much it still means to her. “I miss almost everything about the 1990s,” Minogue said. “There were no phones, dance music was going nuts and I was in it and among it, going to the clubs, going to fashion shows, pounding the pavement.” Minogue acknowledges the negative effects of constantly being tethered to your mobile device as you’re consumed by social media. “I wasn’t wasting time scrolling on socials or dealing with, like, adulting,” she says. “So there’s a lot I miss. Overall just freedom.” (Billboard)
