Juliano Krue Valdi has been cast as young Michael Jackson in the upcoming biopic about the King of Pop.
Nine-year-old actor Valdi, who is well-known for imitating Michael Jackson, will portray the late music sensation’s formative years in the Jackson family band.
“This opportunity is really important to me because Michael Jackson is the King of Pop, and he is very special in my heart,” the die-hard fan of MJ said about his role. “I’ve been dancing to his songs for five years now. He makes me feel really special and makes me feel good about myself. I love the energy of Michael Jackson.”
Lionsgate recently announced that the Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, will be released globally on April 18, 2025.
Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson will play the lead role in grown up years.
Antoine Fuqua directs the film that chronicles the life and music of MJ. Its screenplay was written by John Logan.
Michael is co-produced by Graham King, John Branca and John McClain.
The film will reportedly begin production on January 22.
Lionsgate is releasing the movie in the U.S., while Universal Pictures has the global rights, except in Japan.
