The soundtrack for Power Ballad is set for release on May 29, bringing Nick Jonas and Paul Rudd into the musical center of the upcoming film.
A new soundtrack announcement confirms that Rudd plays Rick Power, a wedding singer who fronts a band called The Bride & Groove. Jonas plays Danny Wilson, a former boy band star trying to move into a solo career. The album includes performances from both actors, with Rudd taking on several wedding-band covers and Jonas appearing on original material tied to the movie’s story.
The key song is How to Write a Song Without You. In the film, Rick wrote the track years earlier, and Danny uses it as part of his solo launch. The soundtrack includes different versions performed by Jonas and Rudd, along with a radio version.
The album also features covers of familiar pop and rock songs, including Celebration, Maneater, Boys Are Back in Town, and Summer of 69, plus original songs written for the film.
